Product Information
Embark on a thrilling sea adventure with Catan Junior! This game offers a modified playing style of the classic Settlers of Catan, making it a perfect introduction to the Catan series for kids as young as five. Set on a ring of islands, 2 to 4 players can build pirate hideouts and explore the mysterious Spooky Island where the Ghost Captain resides. Each island provides unique resources like wood, goats, molasses, or swords, and players can also acquire gold. Starting with two pirate hideouts on different islands, players can use resources to build ships, more hideouts, or get help from Coco the Parrot. Building ships helps expand the network, and more hideouts mean more resources. Just beware of the dreaded Ghost Captain! The first player to control seven pirate hideouts wins. This version of Catan Junior has several improvements over the 2007 Die Siedler von Catan: Junior. It comes with a two - player map, has a larger and more symmetrical three - and four - player map, shows die faces instead of numbers for resource production, removes many event cards for simplicity, uses only tiles for durability, eliminates harbors for simpler trading, has different resources, features a race for Coco the Parrot tiles, has a market on the board, and excludes player - to - player trading by default (it's part of the advanced game).
How to play Catan Junior: First, each player gets two pirate hideouts on different islands at the start. Then, as the game progresses, you can use the resources you collect from the islands (like wood, goats, molasses, or swords) to build ships and more hideouts. You can also get help from Coco the Parrot tiles. Try to be the first one to control seven pirate hideouts to win the game. Note that you need to watch out for the Ghost Captain. When it comes to trading, you can trade with the bank easily right from the start. If you want to play the advanced game, you can include trading with other players. Maintenance is easy. Since it uses tiles instead of cards, it's more durable. Just keep the tiles in a dry place and away from sharp objects to avoid any damage. If you spill something on the tiles, gently wipe it off with a soft cloth.
