Male ducks, known as drakes, are super easy to spot because of their bright, shiny feathers. After mating season, drakes shed their colorful feathers and grow what's called eclipse plumage. At this time, you can tell them from female ducks just by their yellow bills.

If you're interested in observing drakes, it's best to go to areas near water like ponds or lakes. When watching them, keep a respectful distance to avoid scaring them. Remember, they're wild animals. In terms of maintenance, if you're in an area where drakes live, don't litter and keep the environment clean. This helps provide them with a good living space. During the breeding season, be extra quiet as they might be more sensitive. Also, if you see a drake in eclipse plumage, don't be confused thinking it's a female; look for the yellow bill to tell them apart.
