Product Information
Get ready to embark on another journey to far - off places! In Lost Cities: Rivals, you may face a shortage of funds for your desired trips. This game offers gameplay similar to other titles in the Lost Cities series. Players collect colored expedition cards and arrange them in ascending order in their personal expeditions. They can place wager cards before starting an expedition to boost its value. The key difference here is that you have to win auctions to place cards in your expeditions. The card deck has three wager cards, two copies of cards numbered 2 - 5, and one copy of cards numbered 6 - 10 in each of the five colors. Shuffle the deck and divide it into four piles, using only one pile for now. At the start, each player gets two differently - colored wager cards from a separate deck, and 36 coins are evenly distributed among players. On your turn, you can either reveal the top card from the current pile or auction the displayed cards. In the auction, you can raise the bid or pass. When only one player remains, they pay the bid amount to the table center, pick the cards they want for their expeditions, and can also place one card out of play. The auction winner adds a card to the display to end their turn. When the last card of a pile is revealed, coins at the table center are evenly shared among players, and a new pile is brought in. The game ends when the last card of the final pile is revealed, with no coin distribution. For each expedition, players score based on the footprints on numbered cards. Wagers can double, triple, or increase the score further. Players also get 1 point per gold coin and 8 points for each expedition with at least four number cards. The player with the highest total wins!
Let's start playing Lost Cities Rivals! First, shuffle the card deck with three wager cards, two copies of cards numbered 2 - 5, and one copy of cards numbered 6 - 10 in each of the five colors. Divide it into four piles and use only one pile at the beginning. Each player gets two differently - colored wager cards from a separate deck, and the 36 coins are split evenly among everyone. On your turn, you have two choices. You can either reveal the top card from the current pile to add it to the display or start an auction for the displayed cards. In the auction, you need to decide whether to raise the bid or pass. When there's only one bidder left, they pay the money to the table center, take the cards they want for their expeditions, and can set one card aside. Remember to add a card to the display at the end of your turn. When you reveal the last card of a pile, share the coins at the table center equally among all players and bring in a new pile. The game ends when the last card of the final pile is revealed, but no coins are distributed this time. To score, count the footprints on the numbered cards in each expedition. If you have wagers in that color, your score will increase. Also, you get 1 point for each gold coin you hold and 8 points for each expedition with at least four number cards. Keep the cards clean and dry to maintain them well. Have fun playing!
